Tiger Tail Soup: A novel of China at war by Nicki Chen
For a long time I’ve been promising that Tiger Tail Soup would soon be available as an ebook. Now at last it is. For those of you who like to read on your Amazon Kindle, Barnes and Noble Nook, Apple iBook, or Google Editions, I’m happy to announce that the ebook version of my novel is ready to go.
Now, here are three short excerpts from Tiger Tail Soup:
“Yu-ming put a slice of duck on my plate and I placed some radish on his. It was a common courtesy, taken for granted on ordinary days. Today, however, the simple acts of serving while being served were pleasant beyond the ordinary.” p. 29.
“During the night our army retreated. There’s an old saying: Of all the thirty-six ways to get out of trouble, the best is—leave.” p. 54.
That autumn, while the Japanese were making their push up the Yangtze toward Wuhan and eight hundred thousand Chinese troops were gathering to stop them, I was swelling up like a puffer fish. My belly became so large and my ankles so fat that even if I’d wanted to help the national effort, I wouldn’t have been able to buckle my shoes, much less strap a belt of bullets around my waist. p. 60.

That’s fantastic, Nicki! Also love the excerpt from p. 60.
I’m sharing a link with a neighbor who just moved to China to teach for 2 years. And also sharing on Facebook.
Thank you for sharing, Nancy. I hope your neighbor has a great time teaching in China.
It sounds a good read, Nicki. I don’t do Kindle but I’ll catch it some time 🙂
It’s also available in paperback from Amazon and barnesandnoble.com. Can you order from them in England?
Your book is resting on my Kindle after a hectic flight from the cloud!
Hmm. A hectic flight from the cloud. I’m glad it arrived safe and sound.
What a great saying; “There’s an old saying: Of all the thirty-six ways to get out of trouble, the best is—leave.” –
Love that! Mindy
I like that one too.
